***Please note: Pre-registration for the new elementary school on 104th Avenue, which is scheduled to open September 2019, has been rescheduled to start in late August 2018. Details about the pre-registration process, including the exact date, will be communicated on the school district website and to parents through the Parent Portal in late August.
Following a public consultation that included an Open House and an online survey, the Board of Education approved at its May 16, 2018 public meeting revised East Capital Zone elementary catchment areas, including the catchment for the new elementary school scheduled to open September 2019 at 104th Avenue just east of 240th Street.
The school district received a combined total of 420 responses during its public consultation process. Of the 257 respondents who stated a preference to the three catchment options presented, 55 preferred Option A, 92 preferred Option B, 92 preferred Option C, and 23 indicated they had no preference among the three options.
The revised East Capital Zone elementary catchment areas are a modified version of Option B. To address common concerns raised through the public consultation process, the following changes to the original Option B map were made:
- The Jackson Ridge neighbourhood has been added to the catchment for the new school;
- A large swath of primarily non-residential land west of 240th Street and north of Lougheed Highway has been removed from the catchment for the new school;
- The small area north of 112th Avenue and west of 240th Street (which currently lies in the Blue Mountain catchment) has been returned to the Alexander Robinson elementary school catchment, taking additional pressure of Blue Mountain. [Click to see map]

Student transportation
For the 2018/19 school year, eligibility for regular student transportation services will be determined based on the catchment areas in effect in the 2017/18 school year [Click to see map of 2017/18 East Capital Zone elementary catchments]. Once the new school opens in September 2019, eligibility for regular student transportation services will be determined based on the revised elementary catchment areas for the East Capital Zone.
Pre-registering for the new school
