Welcome back message from Superintendent Teresa Downs

September 6, 2024 9:00 AM

Dear families,

I hope you’ve had a restful and enjoyable summer, filled with time to recharge and make cherished memories. We were thrilled this week to welcome back our returning families and extend a special greeting to those joining our school community for the first time.

The challenges of the last few years, including those brought on by the pandemic, have had a lasting impact on our school system. However, with your partnership, we are ready to turn the page and move forward together. This year, you will see a renewed focus in every classroom on literacy, numeracy, and well-being. We know that these are the essential building blocks for student success, both in and out of school.

By strengthening this foundation, our goal is to give students the confidence to explore all areas of the curriculum, encouraging curiosity and a love of learning. With your continued support, we are committed to ensuring that each student thrives, growing not only academically but also socially and emotionally.

As we look ahead to the future, we are focused on preparing our students for the world beyond graduation. We want every learner to leave with the confidence, knowledge, and experiences they need to pursue their dreams and flourish in whichever path they choose.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We are excited about the year ahead. Whether your child is starting kindergarten or finishing high school, we look forward to a year of growth, learning, and connection.

Minister of Education and Child Care Rachna Singh has also prepared a welcome back message for students, parents, and caregivers. The minister’s message is available both in English and in French

Sincerely,

Teresa Downs
