Maple Ridge Secondary’s Aboriginal Leadership Team will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys and gift cards during the annual Rambo’s Drive-Thru Christmas Toy Drive on Tuesday (Nov. 23).
The event will take place before school starts until 8:30 a.m., with donations going to support families in need this holiday season.
“The students have chosen to support parents who might be struggling to provide a Christmas for their families this year,” said MRSS Aboriginal support worker Sherri Britton. “They were concerned about how a parent might feel if they were having trouble making ends meet.”
Last year, the Aboriginal Leadership Team collected dozens of toys, which were given to families in need. The school also raised more than 1,000 items and $470 for the Friends in Need Food Bank.
