Aidan Serra is a Grade 10 student at Thomas Haney Secondary School (2017-18 school year) who is looking for challenges and is experiencing great success.
Aidan’s community involvement is mainly in his sports connections. As captain of both of the ball hockey teams he plays on, Aidan plays a pivotal role in the Thomas Haney ball hockey program ensuring it runs smoothly. As captain, Aidan is in constant contact and communication with both the program head and the managers, and also fields all player questions, comments, or concerns surrounding ball hockey.
Aidan is a natural born leader, with many of his contributions occurring off the floor. This year, Aidan helped fundraise over $1,200 for the “Humboldt Strong” movement. In the next year, Aidan will run the Thomas Haney Ball Hockey program. Aidan is an excellent example of a young athlete giving back to his sport, school, and community.
About Leaders of Tomorrow
The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.
The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2017/18 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2018 Leaders of Tomorrow.
