Candice is an excellent all-round student. She is a high-level athlete who just recently accepted a full-ride lacrosse scholarship to the University of Edinboro in Pennsylvania.
Candice was the 2015 Provincial Subway Box Lacrosse Player of the Year, an award that included both male and female players.
She also received the Glen McLean Memorial Trophy for Player of the Year. Candice has won several provincial championships and a national team championship for box lacrosse. She’s also been named a national team all-star.
Candice is one of SRT’s top academic students and has never missed being on the honour roll at SRT. She has also been SRT Spirit Queen two years in a row.
Candice is also active in her community. She coaches and referees box lacrosse, she has been a mentor for young lacrosse goalies, and even volunteers her time to serve lunches at The Caring Place. Candice hopes to study pre-medicine at Edinboro University during the 2017-18 school year. We can only hope that Candice returns to her roots here in Maple Ridge to set up a medical practice. Candice is already a true leader and we wish her all the best.
About Leaders of Tomorrow
The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.
The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2016/17 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2017 Leaders of Tomorrow.
