2016 Leaders of Tomorrow: Jessica Dongalen – Harry Hooge

Jessica Dongalen is a passionate social activist at Harry Hooge Elementary. She is confident and has a positive attitude. Jessica seeks opportunities to help people and fellow students whenever she can. Jessica’s commitment to helping others was noted in her contributions to the school’s Knights 4 Change club – a leadership club that has raised about $4,500 for various initiatives in Kenya.

Jessica has been a positive and influential member of this club for a number of years and has consistently demonstrated enthusiasm and a strong work ethic for the causes the club has championed. During the 2015-16 school year, she was active in organizing fundraisers and raising awareness at the school level.

In addition to the Knights 4 Change, Jessica was also a member of Harry Hooge’s district student council, and volleyball, basketball and track and field teams. Furthermore, Jessica is a talented singer and loves to entertain. Her talent was showcased during our winter musical “Snow Biz” and our annual variety show. She hopes to become a social worker or a nurse in the future.

Jessica’s leadership qualities are well recognized by her peers.  She is extremely well thought of and admired by her friends and fellow classmates.  She is truly a “leader of tomorrow”!

About Leaders of Tomorrow

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.

The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2015/16 school year – there are many others  who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom. ?

Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2016 Leaders of Tomorrow.
