During the 2015-16 school year, Jaelyn Banns was a Grade 7 student at Highland Park. She was an outstanding role model for all students and she always displays a positive attitude and is described by staff as being confident and reliable.
She is also an outstanding listener and when asked to complete a task she is very dependable. Jaelyn is always thinking of others and she will often share what she believes is right. When needed, she is also the first willing to step up to help out always going beyond what is expected.
During the 2015-16 school year, Jaelyn was a kindergarten monitor and she was also actively involved in the school leadership program. She enjoys playing sports and she currently plays lacrosse for the Burrards. She was also involved in school sports this past year playing on both the volleyball and basketball teams.
When asked what she would like to do in the future she said that she might become a lawyer and she would like to begin to spend time volunteering at the SPCA or at a local seniors centre. We look forward to hearing great things about Jaelyn as she goes off to high school.
About Leaders of Tomorrow
The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.
The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2015/16 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom. ?
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2016 Leaders of Tomorrow.
