During the 2016-17 school year, Justin was a student at Edith McDermott Elementary. Justin is a student who is always willing to help in any way possible. At school, Justin was a main organizer for a class project called Chores for a Cause. This project raised $1,210 to help children in Nepal. All of the money raised was used to purchase backpacks, school supplies and shoes so that children could attend school. Our students raised money by doing chores at home and donating the money they earned to Chores for a Cause.
Justin was among the students who represented our school at the District Public Speaking event this year. His speech on Mac vs PC computers truly showcased his immense knowledge of computers. Justin has a natural talent with computers. He has successfully built his own computer and is also very talented with coding.
Outside of school Justin keeps himself very busy playing hockey, as well as playing the piano and guitar.
About Leaders of Tomorrow
The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.
The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2016/17 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2017 Leaders of Tomorrow.
