Ten students from Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District No. 42 have earned $1,000 Youth Work in Trades (WRK) awards for sustained and exceptional work as apprentices.
To be eligible for the award, students must complete four classroom courses and 900 hours of practical, hands-on work experience.
Students who complete the program also earn 16 credits towards graduation.
“We are proud of the hard work and dedication of our students in their chosen trade,” said Brad Dingler. “These students are well on their way towards attaining rewarding, well-paying careers.”
In total, 13 SD42 students have earned the Youth Work in Trades Award this school year in the following career fields: horticulture, culinary, electrical, metal fabrication, parts and warehouse, construction and auto service technician.
