2019 Leaders of Tomorrow: Chalayne McClure, Reconnex Program

Chalayne McClure is a determined Grade 11 student attending the Reconnex Program.

She is genuine, self-aware, positive, inspirational and kind, and she consistently provides a calm, welcoming space for others.

Chalayne believes in her ability to achieve what she sets her mind to, plans the steps to get there, and sets reasonable and achievable goals for herself. Whether it is academically, physically or mentally, Chalayne also understands that failure can be part of the process to becoming successful, acknowledging that it is temporary and not a reason to quit, but a reason to expand her comfort zone and knowledge.

Chalayne is an extremely committed individual who has developed a passion for boxing, which she participates in five times a week in the community. Between school and boxing, Chalayne also divides her time among her other interests such as cross fitness, reading, listening to a variety of genres of music, creating realism abstract art, and writing poems. Along with her interests in music festivals and spending time with her family, Chalayne has plans for future travel, after Graduating in 2020, with her first stop being Times Square in New York !

About Leaders of Tomorrow

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.

The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2018/19 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom. Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2019 Leaders of Tomorrow.
