Lily is a lunch-time monitor for one of Whonnock’s kindergarten classroom. As a WE Day student, Lily helped fundraise with hot chocolate sales and a book sale. Lily will often step up to assist with any school-related activities and fundraising events. Besides being a great helper around Whonnock, Lily is an excellent student role model with her academics and care.
Outside of school, Lily stays busy with dance and working in the film industry. She takes jazz, hip hop, lyrical, ballet and acro. She shared that she plans to double the amount of dance classes next year. Over the years, Lily has also been involved with donating her birthday money to the IWK Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Wish Foundation.
Lily has also been volunteering her time to help out with special events by doing things such as decorating, setting up displays, and handing out brochures for fundraisers. In the past Lily donated her hair for cancer wigs. Lily has demonstrated her giving nature since she was young as she would set up and hand out free lemonade for the cost of a smile just to brighten someone’s day. Lily is well on her way to being one of our Leaders of Tomorrow.
About Leaders of Tomorrow
The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District (SD42) has teamed up with the Maple Ridge News to celebrate local students who are making a difference at school and in the community. Elementary and secondary students featured as Leaders of Tomorrow were picked by their principals for making positive achievements in academics, sports, arts and community involvement.
The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2016/17 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2017 Leaders of Tomorrow.
