Several School District No. 42 schools participated in the annual “WE Scare Hunger” campaign created by Free the Children.
As a result of the students’ efforts, thousands of pounds of non-perishable food items and cash gifts will be donated to the Friends in Need Food Bank, which serves communities in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
So, how much food was collected by SD42 students? Here’s a small sample:
- Albion elementary: 996 pounds of non-perishable food items.
- Yennadon elementary: 1,656 pounds of non-perishable food items and $590 in cash;
- Alexander Robinson elementary: 1,061 pounds of non-perishable food items;
- The Wheelhouse program at Alouette elementary: 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food.
