School District No. 42 uses a variety of content management systems for our public websites and internal intranet sites. For staff wanting to know the options available please see below for more information.
School District No. 42’s public website is managed by our District Communications Manager, Irena Pochop. Any staff requests related to this site should be addressed to her. For the general public, contact information related to the various district functions is provided here.
Depending on whether the department site is public facing, or hosted internally for staff only access, the WordPress or SharePoint online content management systems are used and supported.
WordPress is the district’s system of choice for publicly accessible department sites. Should you require assistance with your department site running on our district WordPress servers, please submit a HelpDesk ticket.
For staff-only department sites, the district uses the templates/functionality of our Scholantis User Portal solution running on SharePoint. For more information, see the software vendors help topic here.
As with public department sites, the district has also standardized a WordPress web content management system for our public school sites. Should staff need assistance with a technical or access issue related to their school website running on our district WordPress servers, please submit a HelpDesk ticket.
Our school district uses a specific set of standards in regard to site design elements and the back-end technologies used in any new websites. Should your school or department be looking into refreshing or rebuilding from scratch any district websites, you must first consult with the IT Department to ensure that the technology and design methodologies used meet with our current/latest standards.
Staff can access our staff intranet at https://portal.sd42.ca to quickly access various district resources. If prompted to log in, use your District ID.
More information on the Scholantis school district site solution can be found here.
Department sites allow department staff to share information with other staff, not only in their own department, but across the school district.
With department sites, departmental documents, forms, calendar, news, and useful links intended for all district staff can be shared as well as materials restricted to only be shared with other department members.
For staff managing their departments existing site, help resources can be found on the software vendors website here.
Similar to the department sites listed above, group sites provide staff and students with secure online spaces where groups can share materials and collaborate online together. Any staff member can create a group site by navigating to the Hub Page on our intranet and clicking the Create Group button found under the Groups heading. The Hub Page will also show you links to Group Sites you created previously and/or belong to.
For more information on group sites, see the software vendors help site page here.
If you’re having troubles with the intranet site types listed above and/or have a question the above support links doesn’t answer, please submit a HelpDesk ticket.
