Dear families,

We are heartened by the improved circumstances in our province and sincerely look forward to welcoming students back into our schools starting June 1. As we reopen, however, the organization of our schools will look different than it did before COVID-19. Our focus over the next few weeks will be on continuing to ensure that all appropriate health and safety measures are in place to protect our students and staff as they return to some in-classroom instruction. Dear families,

This morning, Minister of Education Rob Fleming announced that all schools in BC will be moving to Stage 3 of BC’s Restart Plan. As a result, effective June 1, 2020, families will have the choice of bringing their children back to class on a part-time basis. Dear graduating class of 2020 and families,

One of the most common questions asked by our Grade 12 students since the suspension of in-class instruction is what will happen with graduation ceremonies this year. Understandably, Grade 12 students have been worried that they will miss out on this key milestone. I am writing to share with you the details of how the current conditions will affect the graduation ceremonies originally planned for late May and June 2020. (more…)

Over the past three weeks, the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District has been providing Essential Service Worker (ESW) childcare and educational support for school-aged children (5-12 years old) of Tier 1 essential services workers. Eligibility for these services was assessed through our first ESW survey, which was open from March 26 to March 30, 2020. Recently, our ESW childcare and educational support program has been expanded to include children of Tier 2 essential service workers.

The school district is now conducting a second Essential Service Worker (ESW) survey to further assess community need. This survey is open to Tier 1 and Tier 2 essential service workers and will CLOSE on Friday, May 1, 2020 (4 pm).

At its April 15, 2020 livestreamed public meeting, the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows Board of Education received the Proposed Preliminary Budget 2020/21 for information.
