Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Teresa Downs to the position of Superintendent of Schools and CEO, effective February 26, 2024.

With Halloween just around the corner, I wanted to once again take a moment to remind students, families, and staff about the need to be thoughtful and inclusive when selecting a costume to be worn at school. The choice of costume should always be respectful of the diverse cultural and lived experiences of all the members of our school communities and should align with the district’s stated commitment to inclusion, anti-racism, and equity. For your information, we have received and reviewed the updated Provincial Communicable Disease Guidelines for K-12 Settings and Public Health Communicable Diseases Guidance for K-12 Schools. There are no significant changes to these documents, which were previously updated in August 2022. Dear families,
On September 21, the school district learned about initial findings connected to former residential schools in the Fraser Valley, on the traditional territories of Stó:lō Nation. The findings confirm the deaths of at least 158 children at four locations. This is tragic news that will impact all communities in the region. (more…)
Dear parents/guardians of students in grades 4 and 7,
I am writing to let you know that the Ministry of Education and Child Care has advised that the Foundation Skills Assessments (FSA) will be conducted from October 2 to November 10, 2023. These provincial assessments of student literacy and numeracy skills are mandated by the Ministry of Education and Child Care in the Student Learning Assessment Order of the School Act and are administered to students in grades 4 and 7. Provincial literacy assessments are also administered to students in grades 10 and 12 and a provincial numeracy assessment is administered to students in grade 10, with the results of these assessments recorded on the student’s permanent graduation transcript.
Registration for the SD42 Continuing Education program is now open. The program offers both in-person and online classes in various subject areas. (more…)
