International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate Program (IB) at Garibaldi Secondary School offers interested students in grades 11 and 12 a rigorous academic curriculum and a smooth transition into university.

Available in only 16 high schools across BC, the program is open to students in Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District No. 42 as well as students from neighbouring districts.

Certificate or diploma?

Grade 11 and Grade 12 students interested in the IB program have the following two options:

1. They may take one or more individual courses as Certificate courses, or
2. They can take all their courses in IB for Grade 11 and 12 years, thus earning an International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Both certificate courses and the full diploma afford students the opportunity to receive advanced first-year credit at most universities in Canada and internationally for all Higher Level (HL) courses (see HL course offerings on the Garibaldi Secondary IB page).

Why IB?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program affords students an enriching opportunity to broaden their academic knowledge and simultaneously specialize in a few chosen areas of interest. IB students are a part of an intense, collegial, one-on-one learning community not available elsewhere.

I'm interested. How do I learn more?
